Our super stay at Meathop came to an end we began our travels up to the more remote Dockray Meadow, up from Whitehaven (as the road down – actually roadworks from Cockermouth on the A5086 meant an 20+ mile diversion to get to the site). We took the time to stop off at Bowness on Windermere and spend a few hours walking, shopping and lunch before we headed to the next site. Bowness on Windermere was extremely busy and lively. Investment in some new walking boots for us both today – they were needed. Very pleasant drive up to Keswick and then onto Cockermouth and down to the site.
