Summer Getaway 2 – Day 6

Today was a very special day. We took a trip up the coast through Whitehaven, Workington, Siddick and Flimby before heading into Maryport. A special day as this town was the home town of Andy’s maternal grandparents and mum. There had been many happy years and trips visiting family in the town – so this was poignant after the loss of mum and dad in the last year. Maryport actually had the sun shining on us! The ability to park up on the former trade and fishing docks was quite different (from quarry in Derbyshire to docks in Cumbria). Quick visit to the Roman Museum overlooking the Atlantic and Solway Firth as well as the town before lunch in the harbours. Lovely walk around the front.
